Assessing Student Knowledge ASK in Scott Co. The chart below a QUEST Tool called a Pareto Chart it is used in our ASK process to collect and analyze data collected by the assessments on a weekly basis. It illustrates a math class at Georgetown Middle School- Ruth Woodie's 6th grade 3rd hour classroom. This class started the ASK process the 2nd week of school in August 2002 of the 2002-2003 school year. These results are by core content Math strands calculated by incorrect answers by students who took assessments 1-15 There is a breakdown of assessment weeks 1-5, 6-10, and 11-15. The graph below shows the progress of the class in all the core content strands throughout 15 weeks. In reading the results you will see fluctuation due to the "preview and review" concepts (explained in ASK training). As a class you should see an overall downward trend in this pareto charts between the assessments as well as the students particular graphs. This process allows for the student to understand his/her improvement areas as well as their strengths. This assessment teaches the student the core content language and prepares them for the CATS testing format. With this data and constant feedback it helps the teacher "teach to the need" of the class.
