What is it?

The Force Field Analysis is a problem-solving tool used to analyze the driving and restraining forces that surround a proposed change. Many times, system changes are difficult and complex to carry out.  A force field analysis would not be needed for a simple task or when widespread support for the change already exists.

Why is the Force Field technique used?

  1. To assess whether change is expected to be difficult.

How is the Force Field technique used?

  1. By defining the desired change or action.
  2. By brainstorming the driving forces and the restraining forces.
  3. By prioritizing the driving forces and the restraining forces.
  4. By listing the actions to be taken.
